Alina is originally from Mexico City, where she graduated from the American School Foundation. She then attended Yale University and studied anthropology. After spending a year as a Fulbright Scholar in India, Alina is back in Mexico City teaching with Blue Ivy. She's an Educational Coach, inspiring students to find their true passion.
Taylor - Head Coach
Taylor is a graduate from Emory University in Atlanta. She majored in Literature and Math, and scored in the top percentile of the ACT. He has many years experience of tutoring in essay writing, Science, and Math, as she believes mathematics is a concrete way to pursue truth. She also loves puppies.
Bernardo is a graduate from the American School Foundation in Mexico City and Yale University (2016), where he majored in Philosophy. He is an avid reader of philosophy, literature, history, and loves to inspire students’ intellectual creativity. For Blue Ivy, Bernardo is a specialist in essay writing and college guidance.
Aron - Head College Coach
Aron was raised between Atlanta and Brazil, and graduated from Brown University with a degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. He then moved to Mexico City as a Princeton University research fellow to help design alternative pedagogical models for public schools outside the city. His core educational belief lies in student-centered teaching and meaningful learning experiences. In his spare time, he is out finding new restaurants for his food blog.
Madeleine Wattenbarger is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with a major in Urban Studies, and she moved to Mexico City soon afterwards. She loves writing, cities and reading about nearly anything.
Ray - Head Test Prep
Ray is a graduate from Yale University, where he majored in Environmental Studies. His research has brought to such far-flung places as India, Vietnam, Senegal, Argentina, and Costa Rica, before he finally found himself settled in Mexico. He has worked in film and is an art enthusiast, dabbling in either when he finds the free time.
Luke - Head Test Prep
Luke graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor's in Economics and from Brown University with a Master's in Latin American History. He also holds a law degree and worked as a corporate lawyer in London, New York, and Paris. He came to Mexico to research his doctoral dissertation and promptly fell in love with Mexico City. He has worked as a historical consultant to independent film companies shooting in the Valley of Mexico and as a language teacher to students with professional needs for advanced English in law and business. He has over ten years of experience teaching and tutoring students in a variety of subjects, including Economics, History, and SAT preparation. In his spare time, Luke enjoys travel, yoga, and exploring the streets and architecture of Coyoacan.
Idia Irele is a graduate of Smith College, where she studied Government and International Relations. After spending some time living in Spain and carrying out a Fulbright Fellowship in Andorra, Idia returned to her hometown of Cambridge, Massachusetts to pursue a Master’s Degree in International Education Policy at Harvard University. Her professional experience is rooted heavily in global education, having collaborated with institutions such as UNICEF, The United Nations Association of Greater Boston, Worldfund, the OCP Policy Center, and the Harvard University Center for Latin American Studies. Building upon her experience living in six different countries, Idia is excited to make a home for herself in Mexico and continue championing her mission of guiding young people around the globe to realize their full academic and professional potential.
Virna grew up in the college town of Amherst, Massachusetts and attended Northeastern University in Boston. She has many years of experience working with youth and educating young adults, and specializes in workforce preparation. She has also worked in training and development in New York City’s startup world, creating curriculum and coaching young professionals. Virna loves art and design, dancing salsa, and flowers. She’s hiked Mount Fuji, Machu Picchu Mountain, and into the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
Erifer grew up in Chicago, before attending Yale University, where he studied History. He is an avid photographer, designer, and educator. With Blue Ivy, Erifer focuses on essay development, humanities tutoring, ACT and SAT prep, and College Coaching.
Katie is orginally from Washington, D.C. and graduated from the College of William & Mary, where she studied Economics and Hispanic Studies. She has taught and mentored students from elementary to college-age in the U.S., Nicaragua, and Chile. After spending a year as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistante in Hidalgo, Mexico, she is thrilled to return to Mexico City to teach with Blue Ivy. In her free time, Katie loves doing yoga, reading, and exploring Mexican cuisine, both in and out of the kitchen.
Rachel is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated summa cum laude from Macalester College with a degree in International Studies. Upon graduating, she received a Princeton in Latin America fellowship and moved to Antigua, Guatemala, where she taught middle school social studies for two years. Rachel has extensive experience teaching and tutoring with the Minnesota Literacy Council, Breakthrough Twin Cities, and Lengua y Cultura. In her free time, Rachel enjoys reading, writing, biking, and whitewater rafting.
Sofia graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 2017 concentrating in literature, Hispanic studies, and visual arts. For the past year and throughout college she worked as a public artist in Philadelphia, using collaborative and community-specific processes. With Blue Ivy Sofia specializes in college coaching and subject tutoring.
After earning top scores on both the SAT and the ACT, Cali was offered a full tuition scholarship to the University of Arizona, where she completed studies in Humanities. After graduation, Cali left her home state to pursue her dream of living outside the U.S. and getting fluent in Spanish. Over the span of two years she lived in three countries-- Chile, Spain, and Mexico-- and taught English full time. Nowadays Cali is based in her beloved Mexico City, where she helps others pursue their international and educational dreams. Aside from coaching, Cali is deeply passionate about curating art exhibits, cultivating an ever-deepening understanding of Mexican culture and cuisine, and learning how to be a good citizen of the world.
Alejo loves Physics and Maths and that is why he pursued a career as a Physicist in Cuba. Looking for a deeper understanding of nature, he moved to Bariloche, Argentina, where he earned a Masters Degree in Physics in the Balseiro Institute. Then, he moved to Mexico City where he studied some of the mathematical techniques used in the Loop Quantization of Gravity at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, and completed his PhD in Physics.
Alejo is passionate about teaching and doing science but also enjoys music and dancing!
Born in New Mexico, Dana grew up on the West Coast of the United States and Canada.
After achieving the 99th percentile on the SAT, he studied Anthropology at McGill University in Montréal. In his spare time he enjoys spending time on the water and exploring the coast in his stomping grounds of the Pacific Northwest.
Osmel graduated with a BSc from the Universidad de Sonora with the final year being done as part of an academic exchange at the university of New Mexico, Albuquerque. After an internship at ININ (Instituto Nacional de Investigación Nuclear), he went on to do a postgraduate program of three years in Europe (Belgium, Spain, France) in which he shared many fond memories with people from across the globe and studied nuclear fusion with the finest minds on the planet. During his time as an undergraduate student, he tutored other physics and engineering students in topics ranging from mechanics to electromagnetism. As part of his ongoing desire to discover the world in - depth he has decided to live and work in Mexico City. With Blue Ivy, Osmel specializes in Physics and Math courses. On his free time, you will find him dancing and studying for his Physics GRE.
Victoria is originally from Alabama, daughter of Mexican immigrants from Ciudad Juárez. She graduated from Stanford University as a double major in Iberian and Latin American Cultures and International Relations. After graduating, she spent several months as a volunteer in refugee camps in Europe, followed by a year as an Fulbright Scholar in São Paulo, Brazil. Victoria strongly values education and life-long learning as a tool to leading a meaningful life. In her spare time, she likes to read Mexican literature and play soccer.
